In this TED talk Amory Lovins discounts nuclear because it costs too much, has too much financial risk and unnecessary because of improving efficiency. He also claims the grid was designed to be able to handle the fluctuations of solar and wind as long as the they are diversified in type and location. He doesn't address thorium specifically.
Amory has been involved with wind & other industries and has no idea of nuclear's real costs or potential. I know, I asked him personally when he was talking at Stanford last year!
Thanks, good to know!
Not only is Amory uninformed about nuclear's real cost or potential, he's also quite snarky and smug about it. I wouldn't waste my time with the man, until he's willing to leave his attitude at the door and have a conversation instead of a debate.
Thanks Mike.
