Some people who are searching for alternative energy solutions are now looking at thorium-based nuclear power plants as a safe alternative to uranium plants. Here is a special report presented by John Coleman on KUSI TV News in San Diego which give an overview of the technology and touts its advantages as a source of energy (e.g. operates at atmospheric pressure, abundant element, much less radioactive material, etc.)The report mentions that political pressures were behind the shutting down of a thorium plant built in Tennessee in the 1960s, but that China and India are currently working on thorium as a power source. For a non-LENR nuclear energy source, it seems to have a lot to recommend it, and the report is very informative on the topic.
