The Fukushima disaster has opened a national debate in France on the future of its nuclear park, second biggest in the world. Authorities recognize the need to enhance safety of the 59 reactors, an expensive investment which will increase the price of electricity. Meanwhile French researchers are working on a new generation of nuclear reactors based on Thorium. They are potentially safer, cleaner and more efficient that the ones running all over the world.
